Good Morning Shreveport partners,

Confidence continues to increase in a winter weather event that will move through the area Sunday morning through Monday morning. There remains some uncertainty in the forecast, particularly with the snowfall location and amounts, so please continue to watch for further updates.

Timing and Overview:

A mix of rain and snow will initially move into portions of East Texas (generally west of a line from Mount Vernon, to Longview, to Lufkin) early Sunday morning. This precipitation will transition to all rain by late Sunday morning as temperatures are expected to warm during the daytime hours. This rain will then continue to spread eastward across much of the area through the day Sunday.

The rain will once again make a transition to a mix of rain and snow Sunday evening, with this wintry mix moving eastward through the night before moving out of the area by late Monday morning.

Four State Impacts:

Expected Accumulations: Snowfall accumulations at this time will generally remain below 2 inches across the area, with the greatest amount expected along and south of I-20. (Please refer to graphic below along with a few safety and informational graphics)

Impacts: Accumulating snowfall could lead to hazardous travel conditions early Monday morning. Wet roadways from rainfall could experience icing as temperatures fall below freezing Sunday night into Monday morning with bridges and elevated roadways being the highest risk for this happening. These hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning commute.

Four State Impacts:

Impacts: Damaging winds and large hail will be the main threats, with isolated tornadoes embedded in the line possible as well. Heavy rain is also becoming more likely, which may result in some localized flash flooding.
