May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and it’s a good reminder that needing help is human, not a weakness. Many of us will face anxiety, depression, or other challenges at some point, and no one should have to navigate that alone.
Here are some national resources you can share or save:
988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline – Call or text 988, or chat for 24/7 support.
NAMI Southwest Washington – Education, support groups, and Mental Health Awareness Month info and more.

If someone comes to mind who might be struggling, consider sharing one of these links or saving this post so it’s handy when you need it.

Spring is a great time to clean up more than just the garage—your medicine cabinet needs some love, too.
With so many of us on at least one prescription, it’s easy for old pills, duplicate meds, and “I forgot what this is for” bottles to pile up. That clutter can make it harder to stay safe and take the right meds at the right time.
Here’s a helpful article you can share that walks through simple, safe steps for checking dates, tossing what’s expired, and disposing of medications properly:
Medication disposal: Why and how to safely clean out your medicine cabinet – Mayo Clinic Health System
Safe methods of medication disposal When medicines are no longer are needed, it is important to dispose of them properly to reduce risk from accidental exposure or intentional misuse.

This was an interesting read about shingles, including how it can affect younger people than most realize, how severe the pain can be, and why discussing the vaccine with your doctor is important. The article also highlights a surprising statistic: about 1 in 3 Americans will get shingles, but only a fraction of eligible adults are vaccinated, even though the vaccine can prevent a lot of suffering.
If you’re in your 50s or older — or have parents in that age range — this is a good reminder to make sure you understand what your current coverage does (and doesn’t) handle when it comes to vaccines and unexpected health issues. I'm always glad to talk things through, answer questions, and help you feel more confident about your coverage options.
