Recycling is important! With our patience still running thin these days with all the craziness, I wanted to share this recycling video, a sketch from Portlandia. It focuses on the humor side of recycling, but the message is still the same: reduce, reuse, recycle... and one of my personal favorites - repurpose! Stay sane - and have a great day!

* ANNOUNCEMENT *
Waste Control has prepared an app to assist in providing proper and more timely notification of anticipated disruption of garbage and/or recycling service, such as the recent snow event last month. This app will generate reminders for normal collection service, including approved curbside recycling materials and Christmas tree removal schedules, or anticipated delays or changes to service.
Go to the App Store on your phone and type in “WasteConnect” and download the app. Once you enter your address and accept the prompt to receive Notifications, you will receive service reminders and any needed updates from Waste Control.
Please note: Waste Control said the app is still loading to go live and may still take another week or so, though most have already been successful in downloading the app.
For those that do not have access to a phone to download the app, these announcements will be aired on all local radio stations and published in the Daily News.
* SNOW ALERT *
For those hill areas that have garbage and recycling collection today and due to the current snow event, Waste Control will not be providing collection service. They will be keeping track of those areas that are missed and will go back to start getting the missed service as soon as it is safe to do so, likely beginning on Monday.
This will take a couple of days to catch up – along with the normal collection, but they y will do their best. We apologize for any inconvenience this causes, but it is also important that these drivers stay safe.
Thank you for your patience.
