Transforming lives by building the capacity of individuals since 1980

A good day is not the same as a compliant day. Too often, people with intellectual disabilities are praised for being “good” simply because they followed directions and caused no problems. Compliance may make support easier, but it does not tell us whether the person felt happy, respected, or heard. Doing everything you are told is not the same as living a meaningful life.

Thank you Sabrina!

This week, we’re highlighting two Together We Can Award recipients each day through Friday, sharing one at a time as we celebrate individuals and community partners making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Our first recipient is:

🏆 Outstanding Community Connection Award
Congratulations to Sabrina Clements! Sabrina’s dedication at Life Works empowers clients to build independence, strengthen self-advocacy, and navigate challenges with confidence. Her collaborative spirit and willingness to support coworkers make her an invaluable resource and a driving force behind a strong, connected team.

This award is presented to a support professional or volunteer who fosters opportunities for individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and helps individuals thrive in school, community, workplace, and life through meaningful connections.

We also extend our appreciation to Cowlitz County Commissioner Steve Rader for his continued support and attendance at the Together We Can Conference on April 24.
