Francis, the assistant director of Project Moses, entered the Project as a student in 2017 and it was very transformative in his life. His father, Don Arturo, shares often about the impact on his son and their family as a whole.
"We, as a low-income family, took this opportunity as a great encouragement to us. Obtaining the scholarship had many benefits, both in terms of food security and the education, as well as the Christian formation. Our family also has our Christian principles, given by our parents or grandparents, and this trajectory in the Project has been very valuable to Francis as well as for us as a family. We believe that studying greatly benefits people and the wellbeing of our society. We have seen that from our son, Francis. His way of treating other people, his vocation, his behavior, everything is different, and that is very valuable. We should wish this for every other young person. We thank Mission UpReach who are always watching over the students who are in training and, God willing, this work must continue. May those who have managed to acquire knowledge put it into the service of their family and anyone else they can help."

One of the simplest ways for us to explain our mission here at MUR is that everything we do is focused on rooting people in Christ. In Colossians 2:6-7, the Apostle Paul says, 6 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, 7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. If we do our job well, in rooting this generation in Christ, we will be vicariously reaching the next generation and perhaps several more beyond.
It’s truly a beautiful thing, the privilege of seeing something grow and flourish. Being around for the initial planting of the seed, the nurturing of the new plant, imagining a root system growing and maturing, and then to see the plant turn into a tree with healthy branches, producing fruit. What a gift! Matthew 13:31-32 says, “The kingdom of heaven is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but when it has grown it is larger than all the garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.” The seeds that have been planted and continue to be planted through the good works of Mission UpReach are like the mustard seed, they seem small and insignificant initially but grow into a large tree with branches that provide shade and rest for others. We have been blessed to witness that growth.

"The next time you hear from us, we will be reporting on our annual Bible camp. As of this writing we have around 200 children from ages 8-18 signed up for one of the three weeks of camp. It’s an exciting time of year for us and for the children we serve. This camp is run by a mostly volunteer staff of young people. The week begins on Sunday afternoon and ends early Friday morning. We take good care of the children, giving them specialized attention, lots of love, and of course plenty to eat. We look forward to sharing the fun through photos with you in our next newsletter."
