Hi, I'm Luca Scarcella, but you can call me LuS.

Based in LA, I’ve been working at La Stampa (Italian national newspaper) since 2016, as a journalist, and until October 2019 as social media strategist, and social content editor & producer. I lead a team of machine learning engineers, data scientists, photographers, web developers, sound designers and creatives, that collaborate with me to create cross-media journalism projects. My most recent works focus on algorithmic auditing, DeepFakes verification, AI ethics, social issues and the impact of technology on politics and society. Since 2013 I’ve also been working, as a communication consultant, with several brands and web agencies in Italy and UK, and I’m a member of the jury of Social Creative Awards, with Facebook, Gucci, Lamborghini and many more. I was also a TEDx organizer and licensee, and in June 2018 I did my first TEDx talk: “Investigative journalism based on music theory”. I’m a pianist, graduated at the Conservatory of Turin in 2011. Now I’m studying journalism at UCLA in order to grow professionally, and as a freelancer I’m covering politics, sociology, Middle East and processes of democratization, technology and innovation.

I’m an observer and a dreamer. I always challenge myself, and I love to bring my passion in every project that I get involved into, trying to inspire others to do the same.
I’m always looking for unexpected poetry around me.
My biggest goal is to help world’s most vulnerable communities.
My dream is to create a family full of love.
