According to , now offers first-time homebuyers in a select group of cities zero down payment and zero closing cost mortgages.

The initiative is to help grow homeownership among Black and Hispanic/Latino communities. Residents living in specific neighborhoods in Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, Los Angeles, and Miami will be the first to have an opportunity to take advantage.

New racist text messages show Torrance,CA police officers joking about killing Black people and urinating on Black children.

The state Attorney General’s Office launched an investigation eight months ago into allegations that Torrance police officers were engaging in racist conduct, including the painting of a sw****ka on a suspect’s car and sharing racist and homophobic text messages.

Torrance police officers have confirmed that 15 officers were placed on administrative leave as a result of the scandal. However, the department has refused to identify them. Source: TSR

AstraZeneca is conducting a major review of diversity across its trials in an attempt to ensure its medicines work for all population groups.

According to reporting by The Guardian, David Fredrickson, the head of oncology at , told the paper that the firm was among those leading efforts to improve participation of people of color and other underrepresented groups in clinical trials.

Speaking on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Davos he called it applying an “equity lens” to every phase of the ’s lifecycle.

Concerns have mounted over the past few years that a lack of diversity among volunteers participating in clinical trials may result in drugs and medical equipment being developed that are less effective in certain groups. Early assessments of the vaccine, for example, were criticized for mainly involving white participants, despite people of color being disproportionately impacted by the disease.
