🌟 Intern Spotlight: Kye N.

From a nervous first day to becoming a confident and dependable member of the team, Kye has made an incredible impression during his internship at the Los Angeles Unified School District LAUSD Region East district headquarters.

A rising senior at Lincoln High School and a Capstone student in the Business and Finance pathway, Kye has embraced every opportunity to grow professionally. He takes initiative, volunteers to assist other departments, and even works at the front reception desk, greeting visitors and answering phones.

Recently, during a visit from the Local District East Superintendent, Kye confidently shared ideas for enhancing the office’s remodeling project by suggesting the addition of photos throughout the facility,
demonstrating the leadership, professionalism, and confidence he has developed through his internship experience.

Congratulations, Kye! Your dedication and growth are a wonderful example of how Work-Based Learning prepares students for success in college, career, and beyond.

🌱 Exploring the future of clean technology and green careers!

This summer, LAUSD CTE-Linked Learning interns visited the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI) at the LADWP La Kretz Innovation Campus for an immersive look at sustainability, innovation, and the growing clean energy workforce.

Guided by our partners at the LAUSD Eco-Sustainability Office and the U.S. Green Building Council California, students learned about emerging career pathways through presentations from LADWP staff and LACI Director of Green Jobs, Kauleen Menard.

The experience gave students a firsthand look at how careers in engineering, clean transportation, community planning, and sustainability are helping build a healthier future for Los Angeles.
