It is with humbleness and gratitude we thank everyone who came out to celebrate the life of
Detective Mitch Speed, marking the 8 year anniversary of his passing.

To see Mitch’s partners together again was heartwarming. When (Ret.) Sergeant Mark Machanic shows up you know it’s epic. Sergeant Machanic gave Mitch his first shot at moving up by being on the Robbery Suppression Team and it defined his career.

These men and women have been a lifeline for my family and I couldn’t imagine spending July 7 anywhere else.

Detective James Mitchell Speed
3/28/1965-7/7/2018

It’s hard to believe you have been gone 8 years.
You took cancer head-on and fought in true Mitch Speed fashion. I remember your words, “we will never ask why, we will ask God to use us”and he truly has.
The lives you touched and the legacy you left are larger than life itself.

I’m grateful you taught us strength, perseverance, and faith to move mountains. Thank you for showing us we can stumble, fall and grieve, but to never let life keep us there.

The words of wisdom you gave me in your final days now make sense. I did exactly what you said, I found a purpose bigger than my pain.

Blue Cancer Connect was created to honor your life. We will treat our officers with love, compassion, and empathy just as you treated everyone in your path. We will keep fighting for better and be the change every officer deserves.

Mitch, we miss you everyday. My prayer is that I continue to make you proud.

On this eighth anniversary we honor your life and your legacy.
Forever in our hearts, Forever Missed!

Happy Fourth of July from our team and family at Blue Cancer Connect.

In remembrance of the man whose legacy drives this organization today we honor and remember Detective Mitch Speed.

Detective Speed was a staple in the community and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department representing God, Country and the uniform by singing the National Anthem.

Today we honor and remember this great nation and those that give us freedom. 🇺🇸

National Bereaved Parents Day, Friday, July 3, 2026 and recognized the month of July, shedding light on the lifelong grief of losing a child.
It’s a time to validate parents’ emotions, and educate the wider community on offering compassionate, ongoing support.

Today, we remember and honor our officers and their families who have lost their precious gift to childhood cancer. ♋️

The myth, the man, the legend……
(Ret.) Deputy Mike Beltran not only served 32 years in law enforcement but he is one of the biggest names as a referee in the MMA.

Beltran was most recently seen on Prime TV doing what he does best at the UFC Freedom 250.

Mike supports this cause and has stepped in to raise money for his brother’s and sisters in uniform who are battling cancer. ♋️

For every $5.00 donated (QR Code attached) you will be entered to win a one of a kind hand drawing of Beltran. This art piece was a gift and it will be personally signed and shipped anywhere in the US.

Our deepest thanks to (Ret.) Deputy Mike Beltran, Commander Geff Deedrick, and Kris Buckner of Investigative Consultants for making this fundraiser happen.

We aren’t slowing down….
Our Officers deserve better!
