Sheesh, the dream. It’s hard to dream when you don’t know how far you can go. When you have limited resources. Sometimes dreams are just dreams because of where you come from, who you are, or the lack of knowledge on how to get there. Well… I decided to leave my hometown to find out. To see what dreams I could explore. And most of them… I couldn’t even fathom. Here’s to the who have that fire. Keep going my friends. It is possible 🥹 I won’t stop dreaming or believing in myself.

I sang this as a child of 9-12 years old as… a child. My mom was teaching me how to project and have a strong voice in this world. Whitney, a “strong voice in the world” whose voice will last a lifetime… if you’re lucky. I studied many strong voices: Chaka, Mariah, Aretha, Yolanda Adams, Young Michael Jackson, Selena, etc…

As an adult singing this song…I am touched. I was that child that was taught well.. and now, I feel my mission is to help lead the way. 🥹 So, as I am watching the news. As I am filled with the things of the world and trying to get by and figure out how to help… I go to my roots where all my lessons come from. They help me find joy and peace and help lead me because those voices were so brave and courageous. So.. this song came to mind.
