Your toothbrush might be doing more damage than you think.
I know that sounds dramatic. But gum recession from aggressive brushing is one of the most common things we see and most patients have no idea it is happening until we point it out.
Here is the thing about electric toothbrushes. They are powerful by design. Add pressure on top of that and you are essentially sanding down your gumline over time. The bristles do not need your help. Pressing harder does not mean cleaner.
What actually works? A soft bristle toothbrush. Light pressure. Small circular motions. Two minutes. Twice a day. That is genuinely it.
Your gums should never hurt, bleed excessively, or feel raw after brushing. If they do that is worth a conversation at your next visit.
