SYNOPSIS/CHARACTERS:
Ben and Jasmine are the only two Black teachers at Penn Valley, a private Quaker school. Jasmine is passionate and boundary pushing, while Ben has worked his way up the ranks at the school to be Diversity Dean thanks to his “agreeable” nature. A racially charged discipline decision ignites a divide at the school and in Jasmine and Ben’s collegial relationship.

Ben, Black, He/Him/His.
Drama teacher, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) dean. He’s been called “agreeable” more than once.
Jasmine, Black, She/Her/Hers
History teacher, a bit of a firebrand. Frustrated with the school.
Cal, White, He/Him/His
A high school senior, Quaker legacy student. Pictures of his extended family stare at you from the school's walls.
Jill, White, She/Her/Hers
Head of school--Penn Valley’s first woman head in 133 years.

AUDITION INFO:
If you are interested in acting in this reading, please fill out the form at the provided link. The audition will consist of a pre-recorded video of you reading a selection from the script (which we have provided in the form); audition videos can be submitted with the form or emailed.
The reading will take place on Friday, March 19 at 7:00 pm PST, livestreamed to youtube from Zoom. There will be 2-4 rehearsals prior to the reading, scheduled around actor availability.
