We’re grateful to everyone who joined Los Angeles Against the Mountains at the Santa Fe Dam Recreational Area.

Over the course of the three-mile walk, we paused at four sites where Hunter Baoengstrum shared context on the history and present-day uses of the dam, while Jamil Baldwin, Theo Meranze, Michael Ned Holte, and Yasaman Sheri read from their own work alongside selected texts.

Please join us for a two-part artist walkthrough with Los Angeles–based artist Roksana Pirouzmand. The first walkthrough begins at 11am at OXY ARTS, followed by a second at 12:30pm at JOAN. You’re welcome to attend either or both.

everything was once something else continues Pirouzmand’s inquiry into transformation, interconnectedness, and impermanence. Working with clay and metal, materials born of the earth and shaped by fire, she explores their contrasting qualities: one absorbent and porous, the other resonant and reverberant.

Presented across JOAN and OXY ARTS, the exhibition unfolds through new sculptural works linked by vibration and sound. Subtle, nearly imperceptible movements set off chains of resonance, animating the space and carrying energy from one object to another, across both sites.
