Scenes from my summer Pop-Up…

My newest painting, “Archaeology/Memory,” will be featured in my curated selection of artwork for my Pop-Up Gallery this weekend. I will have 18 paintings on display. Looking forward to an evening of art, music and storytelling under the stars!

Even an 8 x 8 inch canvas goes through quite a journey. This imagery was originally inspired by 70s wallpaper from my childhood home. Then the layers evolved. Memories of hot summer evenings in my back yard in Texas, hearing the sounds of the cicadas buzzing. And the relief of dusk, punctuated by the electric glow of the fireflies.

I usually don’t post my paintings until they’re finished. But with 2 teenagers and all of the things… I’m lucky to get any time in my studio! Here is one of my cloud paintings in progress…
