Michael Kohn Gallery is proud to present a rare and important selection of works by Pictures Generation artist Mark Innerst. Since the late 70s when he worked in the studio of Robert Longo, Innerst has consistently mined the varied subject matter that became easily accessible in the late media age of the 20th Century. This proto-digital moment of media expansion foreshadowed the social media explosion of today.

Mark Innerst “Painitngs 1982-2024” is onn view July 16 - August 28.

UNTITLED SCULPTURE is the only work Bruce Conner made in 1979, once described as “How he felt all year.” The simple arrangement of a standard brick and Ace bandage is part of Conner’s groundbreaking body of found-object assemblages that began in the late 1950s and parallels qualities of the 1970s art movements like Arte Povera in Europe and Minimalism in the States. His material exploration transforms everyday objects into lyrical compositions.

“Object Poetry” is on view now through September 12th

Congratulations to Jinbin Chen on his solo exhibition “When Clouds Are Floating White as Swans” at HUA International.

The exhibition takes its title from the opening line of a poem by Latvian poet Eduards Veidenbaums (1867–1892), whose verses move from romantic longing—clouds like swans and roses that never fade—to the stark realities of human existence. This tension between tenderness and estrangement echoes throughout Chen’s work.

On view through July 17th.
