I don't think there is anything that communicates better than art. It is quicker than language, and clearer than philosophy - Frederick R. Weisman Gehry.

Another installation view from Willem de Kooning: Drawing at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Bringing together nearly 250 works spanning the early 1920s through the 1980s, this landmark exhibition highlights the vital role drawing played throughout Willem de Kooning’s career. As the first exhibition dedicated to exploring the full breadth of his drawing practice, it offers a rare look at how drawing informed every stage of his artistic process.

The Foundation lent Pink Angels (c. 1945) and Untitled (“Still Life”) (c. 1945) to the exhibition.

It’s rare for the Board to approve the lending of a work from the Foundation’s permanent display — but Keith Haring’s Untitled (Motorcycle), 1987, is making a special journey to the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.

Its temporary absence has given us the opportunity to spotlight another iconic work: Honda VFR 750, 1986, now on view through January 2027.
