I came to Louisville from West Virginia as a boy who thought he was a man, not realizing I’d never lived in a truly diverse community. This city cracked me open. Its cultures beautiful, vibrant, and sometimes painfully segregated, gave me the agency to choose who I become.

From Latin dance floors, to conversations with proud African immigrants who carry their traditions with grace, I’ve learned more about what it means to be an American from people who have journeyed continents to build peace and possibility here in Louisville.

So as I proudly stand with the team putting on the this Sunday at The Whirling Tiger, I’m reminded Home isn’t where you’re from.. it’s where they call your name in the street.

Tonight Arielle gave me the topic of "Everybody is figuring it out" to free write about. I hope that you watch long enough to find yourself invited to Friendsgiving at Bob's house!
