In 2016, we loved 543 kids.

543 kids walked through our doors, played in our gym, rode bikes on our trails, had dinner in our dining room. We helped them pick out clothes, taught them to brush their teeth, asked them to use their manners. We held them when they cried, laughed at their ridiculous jokes, helped them calm down, put Band-Aids on their scrapes. We rocked them to sleep, taught them to read, colored with them, made dentist appointments for them, packed their suitcases when it was time to leave.

In 2016, we loved 543 kids. 543 kids displaced, affected by abuse and neglect, in an unfamiliar place. 543 kids is too many.

April is Child Abuse Prevention month, now is the time to get involved.
