I posted a black square yesterday. I thought it was the right thing to do, and I believe that my motivations were pure. But as the day progressed and I heard the Black voices around me saying that they don’t want silence and black squares, they want the rabid spread of information to enact TRUE change. I have a voice and a platform, and I am committed to using it to voice my support of the Black Lives Matter Movement. Which includes LISTENING to Black people, and following their lead. This movement is for them. To protect and serve them. I am proud to stand by this movement and I support the protests.

These are not just names. These are sons and daughters, mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers. Most of them went out one day and never came home. Some of them were already at home. Sleeping, eating ice cream, babysitting. And they were murdered. Anyone who thinks that the protests are just to bring attention to the murder of George Floyd are sorely mistaken. Read these names. Swipe to see how many were Women. Swipe again to see how many were CHILDREN. Mourn these tragic losses of life. Be ANGRY that there have been millions of Black lives lost with no hope of justice. If you’re white, be UNCOMFORTABLE. Realize that you benefit from literally every system that has ever been put in place. And then work your ass off to serve disenfranchised communities, and edify the voices of the Oppressed.
