Honduras Mission Trip- Altamesa Edition: Day 7

Today we started our morning early as we began day 1 of our 2 day trek back to Texas.

There are no words that can adequately describe the beauty of our drive. The blue mountains with the clouds sitting on top, the different shades of green trees, the bright colors of the flowers and houses, the people in the villages going about their day, just absolutely awe inspiring.

We had a short little stop about 2 hours in for some delicious banana bread and other goodies. Our next destination was City of Angels, an artisan town full of little shops and restaurants. The first order of business was lunch! Many of us had our first encounter with pupusas. If you have not had one, I challenge you to find some! They’re delicious! Afterwards, we had some time to shop for souvenirs and share conversation over coffee.

We hopped back in the van and headed to Tegucigalpa, our final destination for the night. We checked in and had a great dinner of fajitas on the hotel rooftop overlooking the city.

We ended our last night together with a time of sharing about our experiences this week. It was a time of vulnerability, joy, and love.

There is no doubt that God orchestrated this very group of PEOPLE to carry out His PURPOSE this week. As we wrapped up our time together, Jeff encouraged us to carry the momentum of everything we’ve done and learned on this trip back home with us. As he was speaking, I couldn’t help but think of the word: catalyst.

My prayer is that we use our time in Honduras as a catalyst to carry out Christ’s mission for our lives and communities!
