Rising Star Bakery
All cakes are by appointment only.
My little homestead is in full swing today. šæš
I've got two loaves of bread getting ready to rise, fresh herbs from the garden drying for later, and honestly, it's starting to feel like I've got my own tiny farm operation going on.
A few months ago I was just trying to keep plants alive. Now I'm over here baking bread, drying herbs, and pretending I know what I'm doing. š¤£š
If anyone needs me, I'll be busy checking on my bread every 10 minutes like it might magically turn into a bakery while I'm not looking. šš±š

This little monster made its grand entrance at a Halloween party a couple years back and let me tell you it did not come to play.
What started as a āquick little ideaā turned into a full-blown edible creature feature. It took a long time to assemble, but the DETAILS? Oh honey⦠the details were on point.
The mouth alone was a whole operation a mix of peanuts for teeth, red food color, and a little cake slime to give it that perfect creepy shine. And yes⦠that tongue! Handāsculpted from modeling chocolate and absolutely living its best spooky life.
Every inch of this cake was either handāpainted or airbrushed, layer by layer, until it looked like it might actually blink at me. I swear it was staring. When it hit the dessert table, people stopped midāconversation. Kids pointed. Adults leaned in. Someone whispered, āIs it⦠looking at me?ā
Mission accomplished.
Halloween cakes arenāt just desserts ā theyāre characters.
And this one?
This one understood the assignment.
š©øšØ Tell me⦠would YOU slice into it first, or wait for someone braver?
Frosting a cake smooth is basically a trust exercise between me, the spatula, and my patience. š¤£š
You start out confident⦠spinning that turntable like youāre on a baking show. Then suddenly thereās one tiny spot that wonāt smooth out, so you fix it⦠which creates another spot⦠then another⦠and before you know it youāre emotionally arguing with buttercream at 10am. š
But when that frosting finally gets smooth like glass? Whew. That feeling right there is why cake decorators keep doing this crazy stuff. š
