Dr. Damaris D. Bastian is a native of the River Parish area in Louisiana. In high school, Dr. Bastian knew she wanted to become a health professional because of her love of science. She also learned how gifted she was in art after winning first prize in the District Art Guild with her first oil painting. She chose to become a dentist because dentistry would allow her to utilize her artistic ability and still become a health professional.

She is a graduate of Xavier University of New Orleans, LA and Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC. Dr. Bastian began her career working as a civilian contract dentist on a military base preparing marines for deployment and working in community health centers. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the National Dental Association.

During her off time, she has volunteered numerous times providing free dental services in underserved communities. She enjoys biking, traveling, riding the motorcycle with her husband, and spending time with her family.
