San Miguel County is considering changes to its mining regulations that would:

➡️ Allow waivers so mining projects could bypass environmental review

➡️ Eliminate setbacks that currently protect rivers and riparian areas

➡️ Open the door to mining near waterways, risking water quality and wildlife habitat

If the updated code passes, it could roll back decades of protections for our environment.
