Update on Utility Flags in Yards

Many residents have asked whether they may remove the utility flags currently placed in their yards related to fiber installation work.

Because underground boring and related fiber construction activities remain halted in the City of Twinsburg while the cleanup and investigation continue, and because there is no expected timeframe for when that work may resume, residents are free to remove the utility flags from their yards at this time.

Mayor Sam Scaffide has requested that, once the investigation is completed, all parties involved with fiber installation work in the City of Twinsburg meet with City officials and department heads before any activity resumes. The purpose of that meeting will be to review the findings, discuss safety protocols, and ensure that all proper steps and procedures are followed before work continues.

The City continues to do everything possible within the guidelines of State, County, and PUCO regulations that govern construction in public rights-of-way and utility easement areas on residential properties. The safety of our residents remains our highest priority, and we will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Mayor Scaffide also shared the following message:

“I want to thank our residents for their continued patience, concern, and support during this difficult time. I am incredibly proud of the way our community has come together to support one another. Twinsburg is a caring community, and that has been very clear over the past several days.”

As a reminder, the City of Twinsburg, in partnership with the Twinsburg Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club of Twinsburg, has launched the Neighbors in Need – Woodlands Relief Effort to help support the families affected by the recent explosion in neighboring Twinsburg Township.
