Shortly after I got my real estate license in the 1990's my Uncle told me that he was working with a really GOOD agent to buy his retirement home. So I asked him, what did his agent do to earn such a lofty testimonial. He told me that the agent was a good listener and he was always ready to answer RE questions or offer his opinion when asked.

The agent was very good at explaining RE stuff, but the agent never tried to "tell" my Uncle what to do when it was time to make a decision about the purchase. My Uncle was allowed to make his own decisions.

THAT was a lesson learned that I never forgot throughout my years as a licensed agent.
