Home Dialysis (Peritoneal Dialysis)

Home dialysis is a method of receiving dialysis overnight without having to go to a dialysis center three times a week. During peritoneal dialysis, a cleansing fluid will flow into your abdomen through a catheter and the lining of your abdomen will work as a filter to remove toxins, fluids, and salts from your blood due to your kidneys no longer being healthy enough to filter these substances themselves.

Kidneys are responsible for filtering your blood and managing electrolytes. One of the electrolytes managed by the kidneys is Sodium. Normal Sodium is 135-145. This level can be indicative of dehydration, decreased salt intake, or excess fluid intake.
