We were honored to hear one of River Edge Behavioral Health's (REBH) own Substance Abuse Counselors share about her own journey to recovery through REBH services and how they led her to become a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor. Read about part of Katie’s inspiring and personal journey to recovery:
“I am a person in long-term recovery, which led me to my career as a certified substance abuse counselor. I was combative and non-compliant during my first year seeking services at River Edge Behavioral Health. In time, I learned a lot about myself, my addiction, my mental health, and about mental illness. REBH helped me change my entire life. Since I have been at REBH, I earned my Associate of Science in Psychology at Georgia Military College. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Mercer University. I completed my Certified Addiction Counselor I Certification, and last Monday, I completed my Certified Addiction Counselor II Certification. I am passionate about working as a substance abuse counselor.
