Create Wisconsin Director Anne Katz was recognized as a 2026 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Wall of Honor inductee, as part of WAMI’s celebration of Women in Music, in an awards ceremony held at the Atwood Music Hall in Madison, WI, on May 17, 2026.

A leading voice for the arts, culture, and creativity in Wisconsin, Anne has dedicated her career to advancing policy, funding, and support systems that strengthen musicians and creative communities in every corner of the state. Through her work with Create Wisconsin and initiatives like Make Music Wisconsin, she continues to create and grow opportunities, elevate voices, and bring people together through music in every corner of Wisconsin. Through her 30+ years as director of Wisconsin’s only independent statewide organization serving, development, and advocating for increased investment and participation in the arts and culture, her impact has been both lasting and far-reaching — helping shape not just today’s music community, but its future.

“The board of Create Wisconsin sends enthusiastic congratulations to Anne and thanks to WAMI for recognizing her leadership and dedication to the arts, culture, and creativity for everyone, everywhere in the state,” said Carolyn Nelson-Kavajecz, President of the Board of Create Wisconsin. “Wisconsin is lucky to have Anne leading the way in arts and creative economy advocacy, service, and development for everyone, everywhere in the state.”

Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and celebrating local musicians and Wisconsin’s music scene.

Create Wisconsin is Wisconsin’s leading community cultural development organization. Create Wisconsin is a catalyst and connector, working with the creative sector, policymakers, and development leaders, to drive economic growth, tourism, and community vibrancy.
