Our Story

The Hotel Ruby Marie invites you to stray away from “corporate” and “standard” with a combination of modern luxury and Victorian charm that is far from ordinary.

Built in 1873 during the heyday of the booming railroad era, the building has housed thousands of visitors to the downtown Madison area for well over a century. Originally a 36-room establishment that boasted “electricity” and “one bath per floor,” the Ruby Marie has evolved into a 15-room hotel with larger rooms, private baths and modern-day amenities.

Each room is different from the next, but all retain characteristics indicative of the bygone era. Our basic, mid-range and premium rooms are designed to accommodate all types of travelers for all types of occasions.
