As someone who takes the Bible seriously, I understand the basic meaning of human life to be about taking care the rest of creation as divine "image bearers," viceroys, representatives. Protecting creatures and ecosystems and empowering them to flourish -- that's what humans were made to do.

In a time when we can no longer, in good faith, deny the damage that our ways of living are wreaking on God's beloved world, voting for candidates who understand climate change and are willing to do what is right for future generations and global neighbors--even if it requires unpopular changes to our lifestyles--is at the very top of my priorities. No other issue--except maybe the threat of nuclear holocaust--can compare on the scale of global and generational significance.

Voting my values means voting in alignment with the fundamental human vocation to care for God's good creation.
