Paul Symons started PC Locs in 1998, in the front seat of an old van, with a name he came up with on the way to a meeting and a problem he couldn't stop thinking about: 400 desktop computers, a new school, and no good way to keep them safe.

The first lockdown kits were built around the kitchen table with members of his family.
Twenty-seven years on, the work has changed shape. Charging stations. Carts. Smart lockers. Software that tells IT teams who has a device, how long they've had it, and when it's coming back. But the question underneath it all is the same one Paul asked in that van: can this be done a better way?
