For the past few years, we’ve been partnered with ID Shaliah to design a solar power system for their community center. The solar panels are designed to make the community center more self reliant, especially in the event of a hurricane or other natural disaster.
A few weeks ago, several members of our team took a trip to Puerto Rico to visit our project for ID Shaliah.
All of the solar panels are now up and functioning better than we hoped, and the team had a great time getting to our project in action.
We all had a wonderful time working with ID Shaliah and grateful that our project was so successful.

Today is Giving Tuesday! We are an organization of students working to create a resilience center in the Cubuy-Lomas community. After Hurricane Maria, the community experienced power outages for nearly seven months and lost access to running water for about two months. The resilience center will act as a hub for roughly 6000 community members to reliably power refrigerators for diabetics’ insulin and breastfeeding babies’ milk, as well as supply electricity for community members to charge their medical devices and phones.
This semester we have continued working on our design of the system along with fundraising. Any amount helps and with your generous support we can reach our goal of creating a resilience center in the Cubuy-Lomas community.
