Roo Roo Rat Terriers
I am here to help you find your partner in crime, your confidant, your heart, your soul...your next or first rat terrier puppy.
Checking in with our expecting girlie. She's got the best wag. I love my dogs so much, and these last few days leading up to whelping are extra special.

Little Sriracha will be 17 weeks tomorrow. She's pretty spectacular. Racha sleeps through the night, has had all but her rabies shot, is mostly house trained, loves to be held and plays well with everyone. If you are the right fit, she could move in as soon as this weekend. Please note that taking home this little girl comes with a contractual agreement to boop her nose daily, hand out crunchy-os, and sing silly songs to her. She's a striking solid black, and she will take care of your heart and soul if you let her.

On February 22, 2012, I brought a wild boy named Bingo home from Sauk County Humane Society. Before we were home, he got a name upgrade and became Ruckus. I believe our pets live many lives, and I also believe before he was Ruckus, he was my Snickers. They had so many common habits and patterns. It seems nearly inconceivable that it not be true. Ruckus came into my life about 9 months after Snickers passed, and his estimated age was 9-12 months at the time he came home with me.
Ruckus was loud. That's what happens with a name like Ruckus. The entire neighborhood knew when he was going for a walk up until about 3 years ago. He would scream and yip his way down my driveway, and it usually took at least a mile to get him to settle. I recall one day when he was new to me. We were out walking, and a neighbor asked if I was training him to be a service dog. When I replied in the negative she said "In that case, he's adorable."
Though Ruck was not a service dog, he was the dog I trained tasks to before training the service dogs so I could be sure I was training behaviors correctly. He used to walk by and slam cupboard doors when I was trying to teach service dog pups how to do same. It was like he was saying "Oh brother! It's really not that hard. Just do this!" He was halarious and did most things with a keen sense of humor.
I remember at my first house when he learned to jump my fence. It was during a thunderstorm, and I was looking everywhere for him. He's the reason I can say I have ridden in the back of a police car. An officer saw me out looking for him and offered to drive the streets with me. In the end, we returned home to realize that he had jumped into a neighbor's fenced yard and was safe. He hated storms and fireworks after that night.
Eventually, we moved to a new big house with a taller fence, and he went right over that one, too. He had to go out on a tie out after that, and he would bark and screech when he was ready to come back in. I am sure the neighbors loved him.
In 2018, we moved yet again, and I intentionally chose a home with a six foot privacy fence so he could not escape. Alas, the joke was on me, and he jack rabbited his way up the horizontal rails and was gone in a flash, so it was back to the tieout. In 2020, storms did some serious damage to my fence, and I decided to redo the whole thing. $12000 later, I finally had an escapeproof yard and Ruckus could run freely.
Ruckus had a huge presence, and he protected my heart. He was a wonderful baby spoon, he loved puppies, and he never met a stranger. I was so lucky to be his lady.
On February 10, 2020, he lost control of his back left leg, and I was so scared it was something progressive and I would lose him soon, but with lots of therapy, he gained most of his mobility back. On February 10, 2025, he began experiencing serious back pain, and again with therapy, he was up and running again. On February 10, 2026, he met the aponent he could not defeat. Ruckus had a terrible seizure and did not really come back from it. I made the terrible decision to say good bye last night. I have been through this many times, but it does not get easier. There is an endless list of things I will do for the first time without him. Most of those things I did with him blissfully unaware it was the last time. It once again reminds me of the importance of living each experience with the reverence of the first time and the awareness that it could be the last.
Ruckus has left a very quiet hole in my life. Please share your memories and pictures of him if you were one who was lucky enough to know him. The antics and stories are endless.
Rest in peace my sweet boy. Enjoy the sunshine, yell at whatever needs yelling at, and I beg you to wait for me. I love you and miss you so terribly already.
Here is a photo I took of him snoozin on my bed 2 weeks after adoption. It was the first time I was sure he felt safe and secure and at peace in my home.
