Released 30 years ago today: “Feed Me Weird Things” by Squarepusher. This 66-minute, 12-track “drill‘n’bass” IDM debut album by the 21-year-old English electronic music DJ, fretless bassist and multi-instrumentalist (born Thomas Jenkinson) was compiled from over 50 tracks and released by Aphex Twin (24) on his Rephlex Records label. Feed Me Weird Things earned considerable critical acclaim and while it might be too jazzy and abstract to be considered “danceable,” it reached #10 on the UK Dance Albums chart. The Wire magazine included this on its 1996 Top 50 Albums list. More in Comments.
