Below is some helpful information regarding the proposed property tax amendment that will appear on the November 2026 ballot.

The Madison County Property Appraiser’s Office does not advocate for or oppose any proposed changes to the Florida Constitution. Any changes to Florida’s property tax system are determined solely by the voters of the State of Florida.

This information is being provided for educational purposes only to help property owners better understand the proposed amendment and its potential impacts.

Today, June 1st, 2026, the Florida Legislature will convene for a Special Session to consider a constitutional amendment that could significantly reduce future property taxes for Florida homeowners.

Our office is evaluating the proposed property tax changes and actively following the legislative process. We understand that many Madison County property owners may have questions. It is our objective to ensure that you remain properly informed.

At this time, no immediate changes have been made, and the proposal remains under consideration as discussions continue. If this proposal passes in the legislature, Florida voters will make the final decision and a constitutional amendment will appear on the ballot in November.
