Third Floor Guitars-Setup/Repair/Customize

This is Mark. He’s the wildly imaginative and infallible guitar spirit who spotted an old Washburn Lyon body collecting dust in the corner of the shop and envisioned a much higher purpose and fate for it. (I included a pic of the body below as discovered). We mated a Fender neck to it and routed it for a third humbucker. The pickups are from neck to bridge, a Duncan Jazz, Duncan Slash and Duncan JB. They are all wired for push/pull coil splitting. They are also wired independently unlike Gibson 3 bucker models where the middle is “always on”…you can roll in and out any pickup combo, split or unsplit that you want, literally a zillion combinations. This was a fun and unique build! Let’s build YOU a custom axe!

On The Bench Today:
Quite the unusual build!
A customer spotted an old Washburn body in the corner of the shop and asked if I could mate it to a Strat neck he had…. AND route it for a 3rd humbucker!
After confirming the body would work with 25.5” scale, we plugged and redrilled the neck mount holes to see if the 2 pieces would jive together.
Then, we routed for the middle bucker and added a hole for a third volume.
