If you receive an email about a transaction involving crypto-currency and PayPal or some other financial institution, it’s most likely a scam. They will thank you for the transaction. They will also provide you a link to reverse the transaction. You’re probably thinking that you didn’t make such a transaction and will click on the link to reverse it. That’s where they get you. The link will ask for your username and password. Wow, now they have the credentials to get into your bank account.
You should not click on the link. You should not respond to the email. You should delete the email. Then log into or call the financial institution referenced in the email and see what’s going on for yourself.
** Don’t trust links in emails. Go to your financial instruction directly.**
While we’re here, let me remind you that’s it’s a good practice to not reuse passwords. Have unique passwords for each site you visit. Why? Because if one site is compromised and bad actors get your password, they can’t use that password at other sites to gain access.
Be safe folks.
