Joseph Echols Lowery October 6, 1921 – March 27, 2020 Was an American minister in the United Methodist Church and leader in the civil rights movement. Rev. Dr. Lowery along with Dr. Marten Luther King as well as a few others founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Dr. Lowery serving as its vice president, chairman of the board, and from 1977 to 1997 President. Dr. Lowery was highly active and present at nearly all activities of the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s, and continued his civil rights work into the 21st century. Dr. Lowery was great friends with Loretta Mckee of Greensboro, NC mother of our partner and Host of BiographiesTV William McKee by way of the Methodist Church. Let us continue to learn from His great works and accomplishments.
