Just a week or so left before we welcome our second daughter into this world and I wanted to write my oldest a letter.

To my first born,
You have changed my life. You made me a mama and I feel so lucky God chose you. This time together has meant so much to me. I am grateful for these last 4.5 years with you! We have created so many firsts together that I will cherish forever.

But you know what I’m most excited about? Watching that special moment when you become a big sister! You my love will now have a forever friend. Someone who will look up to you, make memories with you, share secrets with you, and share many adventures with you!

Thank you for giving your dad and I the push we needed. Thank you for planting this seed for our family to grow. Thank you for giving me all the signs that you have always been ready to be a big sister. I love you.

“A sister is God’s way of making sure we never walk alone” ❤️

"When you keep on losing with the path your choosing then its time to let go” -Zach Brown Band

Seven years ago my life changed forever. I woke up and told Jim that I was done with drinking. I still count it as one of the biggest and best decisions I have ever made for myself, my health, and for my life.

I grew up with an alcoholic father. It was hard. It was scary. It was sad. It was PAINFUL. To top it off my brother almost lost his life because of alcohol.

I didn’t want to continue this cycle and I most certainly never wanted to end up like them.

I used drinking as a way to cope with my anxiety, to bond with friends, to numb the pain of my childhood, and to escape life. I used it as a reward at the end of a long day and I used it when I was heartbroken or in a rage over some other type of injustice in my life.

Who was I with alcohol in my life? I realized alcohol only fueled my anger, helped me ruin relationships and friendships, caused me to be erratic and lost. I realized alcohol was no longer serving me and my health.

But worst of all I felt like there was something deeply wrong with me. I felt like everyone else around me could find the balance between drinking yet I never could. I never could just stop after one drink.

I felt defeated over and over again, desperate to figure it out, and overwhelmed with failing every single time. A deep feeling I can say that many of my nutrition clients experience too.

I went to therapy in 2013 to address this and my anger issues. I wanted to understand why I was this way, where it was stemming from, and learn positive strategies that honored my well being. I wanted to feel better and I wanted to be a better person.

I share this with you not for sympathy or for a congratulations. I share this with you because it's my personal story. It is hard for me to open up and share my pain but I am challenging myself to do so today.

I have learned that through sharing creates meaningful connection. I am here to tell you that your past does not define your future. Drop me a ❤️ below if you agree!

If you want to succeed, goal setting is a must 🙌 And Madi seconds that HA

Because without goals you lack focus and direction 🙅🏼‍♀️

Goal setting allows you to take control and provides you with a benchmark for determining whether you are actually making progress 📈

But in order to accomplish your goals, however, you must identify your why.

You can’t simply say “I want to be healthy” and expect that to happen. Why? Because there is absolutely no substance, meaning, or feeling in that statement alone 🤷‍♀️

I just graduated a client about 2 weeks ago and had the opportunity to record her personal story today. She was with me for 6 months and walked away with so many aha moments. One in particular was the power of her why exercise. She came to me with a goal to be healthy. I asked her what does that even mean? It took her sometime to figure it out but once she did well that was a game changer in her wellness journey 🤩

Goal setting is a process that starts with careful consideration of what you want to achieve, and ends with a lot of hard work to actually do it. And this is what I push my clients to do every single day in my nutrition program.

I want the same success for you so here are three of my many golden nuggets to get you started today 😉 Let me know if any of these resonate with you.

1.Set Goals that Excite You- Don't create goals out of “I have to” but rather do so because you want to. If you have little interest in the outcome then the chances of you putting in the work to make them happen are slim to none.

2.Know Your Why. What is the real meaning? Dig deep and peel back that onion.

3.Write Your Goals On Paper! This creates OWNERSHIP. The physical act of writing down a goal makes it real and tangible. You have no excuse for forgetting about it.

What is one goal you are working on this month? I would love to cheer you on and help in anyway I can.

Happy Mother's Day ❤️💐

This day is super special to me as it's my very first one 🥰

I'm filled with a huge amount of gratitude that I get to be this person for Madi Skye. I love being a MOM. It is the biggest role I have ever played in this life. It has already pushed me to be a better version of myself.

My mom always showed me unconditional love. No matter the situation she was always there with a hug, a kiss, a pat on the back, or just with her sweet and kind words "good job jellybean, I'm proud of you"

Thank you mom for giving me the tools to be that mom for Madison. I have some really big shoes to fill but I'll do my best 😘 Love you.

What is one thing your mom did or say to you that helped shape you into the person you are today?!
