Setting your thermostat to "auto" is generally more efficient than setting it to "on" for most HVAC systems. Here's why:
**Auto mode**: The fan only runs when the system is actively heating or cooling, which saves energy and reduces wear on the fan. This mode ensures that your HVAC system only works when necessary, maintaining a more consistent temperature and lowering utility costs.
**On mode**: The fan runs continuously, even when the HVAC system isn't heating or cooling. While this can help circulate air more evenly and improve air quality, it uses more energy and can result in higher utility bills. It also means your filters may get dirty faster.
If energy efficiency and cost savings are your priority, "auto" is the better choice. However, if you have issues with air circulation or allergies, "on" may help with those but at a higher energy cost.
