Sunny (JC name Seattle Thunder) is a handsome 2014, 16-hand chestnut Thoroughbred gelding looking for his next partner.

Sunny retired sound from racing in 2022 after earning over $140,000 in 48 starts. He was bred and owned by the same person throughout his entire racing career, receiving exceptional care every step of the way.

Since retiring, Sunny has had time to let down and has been thoughtfully restarted. He has been primarily ridden by advanced adult amateurs, but also used in lessons for intermediate teen riders, and successfully shown at local hunter/jumper shows by his amateur lessee.

Currently, Sunny is confidently jumping 2’9” courses and has schooled fences up to 3’3”. He is an athletic, naturally careful horse with exceptionally quick feet and a fun jump. He offers a natural flying lead change when asked over fences. On the flat, Sunny is schooling Training Level dressage and has begun learning lateral work.

What truly sets Sunny apart is his personality. He is the biggest sweetheart in the barn—kind, affectionate, and always hoping for a pat or cuddle from anyone walking by his stall. He has excellent ground manners and is a pleasure to handle in every way.

Sunny is a sensitive horse who forms strong bonds with his people. He will thrive with a consistent rider who appreciates his kind nature and athleticism. He would make an excellent partner for an experienced amateur or knowledgeable junior looking for a fun horse to continue developing as a jumper or he could venture into another discipline.

Sunny is sound, up to date on all routine care, wears front shoes only, and has no vices. A loving home is the highest priority for this very special horse!
