Red Fox Community School

Every year, the karaoke party closes out music class the same way — with the whole room on its feet. But the magic starts much earlier. All year long, students explore curiosity through percussion, movement, and song, constantly exploring: What moves you? This beloved party is where all of that exploration lands. This year, under Heather's guidance, the singing was bold, the cheering was loud, and the laughter filled every corner. It’s one of those Red Fox traditions that reminds you why this community feels so special. 🎤

Time travel, innovation, and a magical red phone booth. The Red Fox spring play, Press the Button: Spinning Through Time, is the culmination of a year-long journey exploring how curiosity shapes human history.

Students started the year investigating "mistakes that worked"—like the Frisbee and the chocolate chip cookie—before diving deep into how technology, daily life, and creative expression evolved over centuries. By sorting historical facts and collaborating in teams, they built a solid foundation that drove every script, prop, and performance.

Taking audiences from ancient Mesopotamia to the Industrial Revolution, the production spans three original, student-written acts:

Wheels, Wisdom, and What Came First: A stranded lawyer accidentally discovers the evolution of the wheel.

Stoves, Storms, and Self-Evident Truths: A modern duo meets Ben Franklin and Thomas Jefferson while uncovering overlooked history.

Plows, Protest, and Progress: Two kids from 1984 witness the incredible progress—and harsh realities—of the factory boom.

The scripts came entirely from the students. So did the cardboard sets and papier-mâché props, built using skills from Life Skills and art class. They memorized their lines, developed their characters, and showed up to every rehearsal ready to create. From the first brainstorm to the final bow, this production is a testament to the curiosity, teamwork, and storytelling spirit of Red Fox Community School.
