SATURDAY-SUNDAY UPDATE
This system will move into the region about mid-morning Saturday starting with western CT and Massachusetts. It spreads east/northeast as the day goes on reaching central MA and southern VT around noon, the NH border around 2pm, and spreads into southern Maine in the early evening hours.
Right now it is a race between the storm system and the cold air, and who will get in place first. There are two solutions.
- The first being that the storm moves in before the cold air does, placing the rain/snow line further north into central VT and NH which would cause the higher snow amounts to be push farther north. This is currently what the NAM model is showing.
- The second would be the cold air moves in first pushing the rain/snow line, and the system for that matter farther south bringing higher snowfall amounts to central and southern VT and NH. This is what the GFS, EURO, GDPS, and the NWS Blend are currently reflecting.
Attached is my preliminary snowfall map. As we know, this will change, but these are my initial thoughts. This is factoring in a warmer start which is going to be hard to overcome.

EARLY HEADS UP: You're going to be hearing a lot about SNOW in the forecast for late Thursday into Friday morning. Be careful of your sources (as with all information right now ;) ) There's still a lot of time for things to change, but below is how the radar might look Friday morning. Snow could be heavy in southern NH. Right now I'm thinking the "bulls eye" could be the Jaffrey area, Monadnock Region... and a few inches through the rest of southern NH with as much as 6" *if* and that's a big if, the track stays the course and it doesn't change to rain. Leaves are still on some trees and it would be a wet snow, so please prepare for a few power outages in southern NH (again, my biggest concern area is the Monadnock Region). Roads will also be quite sloppy for the Friday morning commute.
I'll keep you posted and PLEASE stay tuned for changes.
