LAST CALL! BACK-TO-SCHOOL CLOTHING ASSISTANCE APPLICATIONS

Tomorrow, July 15th, is the LAST DAY to turn in your application for our 2026-2027 Back-to-School Clothing Assistance Program!

We have a wonderful selection of children's clothing in most sizes, and many of the items are brand new with tags, including several popular name brands. We are excited to help children start the school year feeling confident and prepared.

This program is available only for grandparents with legal custody or legal guardians who are raising their grandchildren or other eligible family members living in their home.

After the application deadline, our staff will carefully review each application to verify eligibility. If your application is approved and we have clothing available in your child's size, we will contact you to schedule a time to come select your child's clothing.

Please note: Children must be present when picking up their clothing so we can help ensure the best fit and allow them to choose items they like.

Applications must be submitted by the close of business tomorrow, July 15th.

Kentucky Medicaid Community Engagement Requirements (Simple Explanation)
Some adults who have Kentucky Medicaid may be required to show they are working or participating in other approved activities to keep their Medicaid coverage.
Who may have to participate?
Generally, adults ages 19 through 64 who are considered able to work may be required to meet these requirements if they are subject to the state's community engagement rules.
What do I have to do?
You must complete 80 hours each month (about 20 hours each week) in one or more of these activities:
✅ Work at a job (full-time or part-time)
✅ Be self-employed
✅ Work in exchange for goods or services
✅ Attend an approved job training program
✅ Go to college, trade school, or work toward a GED (at least half-time)
✅ Volunteer or perform community service
Another way to qualify
Instead of reporting hours, you may qualify if you earn at least $580 per month (based on the federal minimum wage calculation referenced in the policy you shared).
Who does NOT have to meet these requirements?
You may be exempt if you are:
Under age 19
Age 65 or older
Pregnant
Within 12 months after having a baby
Unable to work because of a physical or mental disability
Caring for a child under age 13
Caring for someone who is disabled or incapacitated
A disabled veteran
Participating in an approved addiction recovery program
A former foster youth
What happens if I don't report my hours?
If you are required to participate and do not:
Complete the required activities, or
Report your hours or income,
you could lose your Kentucky Medicaid coverage.
What should I do?
If you think these requirements apply to you:
Keep records of your work, volunteer hours, school attendance, or job training.
Report your hours or income when required.
If you think you qualify for an exemption, contact Kentucky Medicaid or your local kynect office to have your exemption reviewed.
One important note
The information you shared reflects a policy that has changed over time and has been the subject of legal and legislative action. Whether these work requirements are currently being enforced depends on the state's implementation status and federal approvals. Before advising clients that they must meet these requirements, it's a good idea to verify the current rules through the Kentucky Medicaid program or the kynect Benefits portal, as the requirements may not yet be in active enforcement.
