Why are property taxes higher? Is it because the state isn’t providing adequate funding? NO! That’s a ridiculous argument and easily disproven.

Democrats have refused to fully fund DHS unless Republicans agree to new restrictions on federal immigration authorities.

Last week, we had 53 bills to vote on. It took us until 5pm. Today we have more than 100. The Democrats are calling “division” for every vote. This means we have to vote with the buttons instead of voice vote. Even on votes that are virtually unanimous, like 320-12 for example. Why? Because they are trying to slow the process. They are in the minority by a long shot (about 40 more Republicans in the house). They aren’t going to gain any votes. It’s like watching 4 year olds stomp their feet. Please remember this in November. Vote these Democrats out. Except Dale Girard and Jonah Wheeler. They are good guys.

Texas parents rush to enroll their kids into state's school choice program 02/23/2026

While the very first public school in the US opened in 1635, it wasn’t until 1920 that schooling became mandatory. Could the answer to the school funding question be a larger shift from public to private?

Texas parents rush to enroll their kids into state's school choice program Gov. Greg Abbott signed Texas Education Freedom Act creating $1 billion school choice program after overcoming Republican opposition, with 115,000 families applying.

Had a great conversation with a constituent today who called me about HB1831. This bill is meant to repeal a funding cap and seeks to basically spend at least $10,000,000 in Manchester schools. While I believe education is very important, it made me think of an analogy. A few years ago, my dog was acting strangely and I knew there was a serious problem. I took her to the emergency vet who discovered that she had multiple bladder stones. They couldn't give me an exact figure but charged for that visit and said the surgery would be at least $6,000. I brought her to my regular vet (who was excellent and recently retired) and they charged $1800. My dog is 12 years old now and people sometimes think she's a puppy because she has a lot of energy, we go on long walks and she's quite friendly with people. She hasn't had any health issues at all. My question is why would I have paid more than 3 times as much for the exact same outcome? Would my dog even still be alive if I had the emergency vet do the surgery? Are we spending more than is necessary for a certain outcome in public schools today? Religious schools are often lower tuition, such as $5,450–$7,950 for Saint Christopher Academy or $17,900 for Bishop Guertin High School, versus more than $21,000 for public schools. NH's current administrative spending is high—$2,029 per pupil (second-highest nationally, 68% above the U.S. average of ~$1,208), totaling around $325 million annually based on recent enrollment. We have a wide ranging diversity of thought on my side of the aisle. Out of more than 200 Republican Reps, why couldn't the Democrats putting HB1831 in find a single Republican to co-sponsor this? So when someone cries "you don't care about the kids", I'll submit to you that you're not thinking critically. I very much care about the kids, and I also care about the taxpayers getting their money's worth.

We just killed HB1636, which sought to spend $600,000 of NH taxpayers money to out of state consultants who want to create an income tax. 284-76.

Speaking on House Bill 1281 today as I am the prime sponsor. This is about establishing a standard for Police Comfort Dogs. I helped (in a small way) 8 years ago to start this program in NH. Mostly Concord NH Police Department and Hero Pups can take credit for getting it going. This bill is meant to help keep it going. Bipartisan and no cost to taxpayers.

Interesting information about inspections. In 2018, Gordon Darby became part of Opus Group AB in Sweden. Two years later, it went into private equity, with Searchlight Capital Partners in NY brokering. It is still considered a Swedish owned company.
So it’s not just an out of state company suing NH. It’s a foreign owned company.
