It’s hard to believe that, seemingly in the blink of an eye, my sister and I have lost both of our larger-than-life parents.

Our loving, funny, clever, and complicated father—our children’s beloved Pappy, a great big brother, and a staunch friend to so many—put up a good fight. But sadly, this time, he couldn’t MacGyver himself out of this health challenge. He left us peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday morning, knowing he was deeply loved and cherished. I’m sure by now is sharing a colorful story about his journey with everyone above.

To say we are a bit numb would be an understatement, but we trust that in time, somehow, this will all make sense. For now, we are simply grateful for the time we had with him—and with our sweet mom. with
