Once of my spring projects this year was photographing Faulkner's Market, a longtime and beloved Mandan business. This year marks a new chapter for the garden center, as the owners have passed the business on to their children who now have families of their own. This summer, all three generations are working side by side to ensure the continued success of the business. What an incredible legacy of family, community, and tradition! Layn

I really enjoy photographing faces, catching the light in people’s eyes. I am working on a new lighting technique and asked BJ to be one of the first people I photographed. We have known each other for more than 20 years, meeting at Dacotah Speedway where we both volunteered. Now we catch up when we see each other at car shows. BJ is a proud grandpa and I see a sparkle in his eyes when he talks about them. That sparkle is one of the reasons why I photographed him. Layn

It was an honor to photograph Dakota Children's Advocacy Center’s fundraiser this weekend. I always appreciate every opportunity to photograph and practice my craft. This was a really good one. Congrats on a successful event. I look forward to the next one! Layn

I shot this image earlier this year for a newspaper client. I enjoy photographing sports. To me, it is a two-hour photo story — sports action, the crowds, the coaches, the refs, the concession stands. There is so much to share, it is almost an overload in my mind. Layn
