And just like that, July is here!! We started off the month with our Birthday Party and had a full house to sing happy birthday to Vivian and DeeDe. Thanks to Chic fil a on Hwy 21 in Covington for donating the chicken nugget tray!!
We will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of July 4th holiday. We want everyone to be safe this holiday weekend. So please find some helpful safety tips below.
• Be careful with Fireworks – make sure to use them in a clear, out-door area away from your home, trees, dry grass, vehicles and other flammable items. Keep a bucket of water, a hose or fire extinguisher nearby.
• Grill Safely – make sure the grill is on a stable, flat surface away from the exterior of the home, deck railings, overhangs, patio furniture or anything that could potentially catch fire. Never leave the grill unattended and if using a gas grill, check the hose and connections prior to use.
• Watch out for your Pets – make sure that you have a plan for your pets when the fireworks start. The loud noises can scare your pets, and they may try to run away or might be scared and panicky. Make sure that you have their tags on them and that they have a safe space inside or outside to get away from the noise.
• Use extra caution around Water – make sure that you are always supervising children in and around water. It doesn’t matter if it is a pool, lake, river or the gulf, drowning happens quickly. If you are planning on being on the water, make sure to wear your life jackets.
• Be Smart with the Heat and Sun – make sure that you drink plenty of water and have water bottles for all members of the families, including water for your pets. Wear sun protective clothing and make sure to reapply sunscreen often. Take a lot of breaks in the shade and hydrate each time.
Happy July 4th and happy 250th birthday America!!!

The Parenting Center is proud to offer a free Parenting Class titled "Managing Emotions and Tantrums in Children," facilitated by Parenting Center Educator Kayli Colman. While emotional outbursts and tantrums are considered typical in child development, they can also be distressing to parents and their children. This class shows different ways parents and caregivers can help young children develop the skills to regulate their emotions.
This class is offered both virtually and in person at the St. Tammany Hospital in the Mandeville/Covington Conference Rooms on Monday, July 6 from 6-8p. To register for this free class, please go to www.StTammany.health (please note, that the link will be emailed to you after you register). If you have any questions, please either call 985-898-4435 or email [email protected].
