Book Review
Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez
✏️: This was such a wonderful story, especially in a hard part of my life. Books truly are magic objects that can transform our ordinary lives.
Briana is coming off of a horrid marriage and is almost divorced. Her brother in desperate need of a kidney transplant and another doctor has been hired – she thinks to take the job that she wants. This new doctor is hated by everyone and he just started. Briana doesn’t like him for the simple fact of him trying to take the job that is meant to be hers and after him coming into her brothers room she hates him even more. But…words on paper and cupcakes can sure change things in a blink of an eye and this doctor becomes more than meets the eye.
I needed the laughs and the smiles that these two doctors and their letter writing were giving me. Lieutenant Dan stole my heart and refuses to give it back! While we all know that most love stories are nothing like this – it does give me the initiative to show my husband more love and affection than he normally would receive – after all, we are lucky to have one another. Five stars for a lovely read that was hard to put down and offered me smiles when the anxiety was pushing frowns.

Porcupines by Fran Fabriczki
✏️: This story was interesting, not something I’ve read before and therefore, kept my attention all the way through.
This novel is about Sonia, a Hungarian immigrant and her daily antics in raising her daughter Mila by herself. It delves between different time periods that have shaped the way that she thinks, believes, and how Mila came to be. It’s a story of growth, a story of reflection and a story that shares what most parents realize after their kids are screaming at them. That children do not come with a handbook and we’re simply winging everything that we do with a wing and a prayer and hoping we get it right.
I liked this story a lot. Book of the Month has really brought me into contact with authors that I normally would have never heard of nor would I have picked up their books. I’m giving this a solid four stars – great job on keeping me reading and anticipating what was coming next!
