An important day to keep in our minds- exactly 17 years ago today, on July 1, 2009, President signed the legislation that paved the way for WWII’s Women Airforce Service Pilots ( ) to receive the Congressional Gold Medal. Nearly seven decades after flying every mission except combat (eg, towing targets, testing airplanes, and teaching men how to fly), these women finally received one of the nation’s highest civilian honors
